NBA free agency is coming up on July 1 and it’s almost unanimous that LeBron James will be leaving the Cavs. Along with James’ potential departure, there is also conversations regarding Kevin Love’s future in Cleveland.
Multiple sources have told ESPN that regardless of what decision James makes, the Cavs will retain Love for next season. Love averaged 17 points and nine rebounds per game in 2017-18.
Even if the Cavs do at least try to attempt to go after a name like Kawhi Leonard, James leaving will still be inevitable. Having Love as the first option on the team will still leave them as a lottery team again. They can only do so much with guys like George Hill and JR Smith. It’ll be interesting to see what moves the Cavs make ahead or during tonight’s NBA Draft.
