The Cavs looked like they got their point guard of the future by drafting Clolin Sexton out of Alabama. When he was introduced to the team, he was coincidentally given Kyrie Irving’s old No. 2. Per ESPN, when Irving was asked at the premiere of his movie Uncle Drew if he has any issues with it, he said it’s all good and he’s excited to see Sexton play.
“Go ahead, do what you do. He wanted to wear the number, let him wear the number,” said Irving. “It doesn’t matter. The story is probably going to the number. But I’m more excited about who Sexton is as a player in the league. The number thing is like, just chalk that up to the game. It’s cool. It’s no hard feelings from my end. He just has to start at the chopping block just like everyone else did. So I’m excited for him.”
Many believe that Sexton has the potential to be a star player along with having a strong presence on the defensive end. We will see if he’s what the Cavs visioned to get past Irving. Photo courtesy of CavsNation.com
