LeBron On Why He Didn’t Plan On Wearing Cast At Presser Until This Happened

Following the Cavs getting swept by the Warriors in the NBA Finals, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst immediately reported that LeBron James had been playing with a serious hand injury for three games. The injury initially occurred after punching a blackboard after their Game 1 loss.

According to USA Today’s Sam Amick, James wouldn’t have worn a cast to Game 4’s postgame press conference if the news of the injury didn’t leak. Amick also added that “it was unclear if James or his associates would have shared the news at a later time, but there were no plans to pull the curtain back that night.”

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Brian Windhorst also revealed that James underwent two MRIs quietly so that the Warriors wouldn’t know about the injury.

Despite the injury, it didn’t stop James from being nearly a walking triple-double. He averaged 34 points, 10 assists and 8.5 rebounds per game in the NBA Finals. Now, he has a tough decision to make regarding free agency and if he wants to stay in Cleveland.
