Earlier today, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers are Kawhi Leonard’s first choice in who he’d like to be traded to after his toxic relationship with the Spurs this past season. The Lakers will not be the only team that are interested in Leonard’s services though.
Wojnarowski also added that the Celtics and Clippers are interested in Leonard. It has also been revelaed that Boston tried to get Leonard in February’s trade deadline.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Mannix also reported that the Kings will try to get in the mix for Leonard too. They could be shopping the no. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft as they want an established star now.
Leonard also told ESPN that he doesn’t care much for the max deal that San Antonio could offer him as he feels betrayed by how they handled his quad injury last season. According to NBC Sports, Leonard even told the media that he wanted out before he told the Spurs.
The Lakers have cap space to hand out two max deals so expect Leonard to get traded there and then get his money.
