A Missouri woman who was fired after she was caught on Snapchat saying, “you get them niggers,” says she’s not racist and has black friends.
According to the New York Daily News, Tabitha Duncan was fired from her job at The Social Bar and Grill in St. Louis after a video she appeared in went viral. The restaurant issued a written statement stating that
“…it has “immediately terminated” the employee who made the “vile, disgusting and offensive video.”
and
“The incendiary comments made by this employee absolutely does NOT represent the views, opinions, and policies of Social Bar & Grill and it’s owners,” the statement read. “Nor will they be tolerated in any fashion.”
Following the statement, Duncan apologized and blamed alcohol.
The Jefferson County resident said she was drunk and is “so sorry” for what happened, and claims she is not racist.
“I was intoxicated,” she said. “I have black friends, I have black people in my family, I didn’t mean it. I didn’t know that I was being (recorded).”
“It taught me a lot of lessons,” she said. “I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt anybody, I was drunk. I need to seek help.”
Duncan told the publication she is no longer friends with the people appearing in the video.
