Was JR Smith attempting to make a game-winning, buzzer-beater or was the entire play sequence a blunder because he thought they were ahead?
During the post-game press conference, Cavs coach Tyrone Lue said JR Smith told him he thought they were ahead when he dribbled out. Speaking to media outside of the locker room Smith said he was attempting to dribble out and make a shot.
So what’s the real answer? Who better than to ask than LeBron.
During his time at the podium, LeBron was asked his take on the play and what was said in the aftermath. After taking the high road with the first reporter that asked, James was asked several more times by ESPN reporter Mark Schwartz.
Unsatisfied with James’ earlier response, he kept asking what Smith said about the play over and over until James had enough and walked out. As he left, he told Schwartz either “be better tomorrow” or “be better Mark.”
