The NBA is really a player’s league right now.
DeAndre Jordan is a good big man, but a max player? I’d be hesitant to take it that far. However, I don’t sign the checks and it looks like the Dallas Mavericks & Mark Cuban are thinking differently & could be looking AGAIN to bring Jordan into the fold.
Let us not forget the last time DeAndre Jordan was a free agent in 2015 & this happened:
Jordan had verbally agreed to sign with the Mavericks during the moratorium period in 2015, but after giving Mark Cuban and Co. his word, he had a change of heart. That set off one of the most bizarre free-agent fiascos, as ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne and Tim MacMahon detailed, in the history of sports. After all, who could forget the Emoji War of 2015?
In the end, Jordan re-signed with the Clippers, spurning Cuban and the Mavs. That led to a public apology from the big man:
I want to publicly apologize to one of the best owners in the world @MCuban, the @DallasMavs and their fans.

Well, DeAndre Jordan is looking at free agency again if he chooses to opt out of his $24.1 million player option & all reports out of Dallas are saying Cuban is interested & has moved on from the past.
While adding Jordan will improve the Mavs defensively, he’s been a questionable free throw shooter & his perimeter defense leaves a lot to be desired. In a rapidly changing NBA, bigs like DeAndre Jordan are being forced to do more offensively due to smaller lineups across the league.
It’ll be interesting to see if when the time comes, the Mavs put their MAX money where their mouths are.
