How City Workers In Charge of Watering Neighborhood Plants Didn’t Know They Were Helping to Grow Weed (Photos)

A group of city workers has been diligently attending to their duties of watering the city’s weed plants.

Billings Gazette reports that employees of the City of Powell Parks department were the target of pranksters after discovering marijuana plants sprouting in the flower beds they were assigned to watering daily.

Employees weeding and watering the downtown flowers noticed the first green spiked-leaf plant on June 29 and called police, who have since responded to two more marijuana finds.

Police have logged the plants into evidence to be destroyed, said Police Chief Roy Eckerdt.

Del Barton, superintendent of parks, said he had no clue who was behind the illicit greenery.

Officials contend the plants weren’t noticeable initially due to the other plants that were growing around it. The plants only became noticeable after two weeks. No word on who planted the seeds or how many flower beds have been effected.
