Isaiah Thomas is now a Denver Nugget after signing a one-year deal worth $2 million at the veteran minimum. Two seasons ago Thomas was third in the NBA in scoring and after his hip injury just hasn’t been the same. But he has another opportunity to prove he’s a talented scoring guard that can light it up with the best of them.
Going into his 7th season Thomas is looking for the max contract or in other words the Brinks truck. He can tweet, post on Instagram and other platforms but ultimately he’s going to need to be Celtic I.T., if not better and then maybe someone will offer him the bag. It’s an uphill battle, but that hasn’t waivered Thomas. He was the last pick in the 2011 draft and proved everyone wrong, getting better each season. This injury has been an annoyance as he was traded to the Cavs in the offseason, traded to the Lakers at the trade deadline and now has signed a vet minimum contract with the up and coming Nuggets.
Expect Thomas to savor in this opportunity to prove his doubters wrong. You can bet he’s all good.
“I’ll just stay on that SLOW grind and get it how I live.”
Smart gamble by the Nuggets as they only have one point guard in Jamal Murray.
