Roseanne overestimated her white privilege & lost her TV show after this racist tweet in reference to Valerie Jarrett, one of President Obama’s closest advisors during his administration:
That was the tweet that got her fired, but she has a lengthy history of racist & anti-Muslim tweets going back years. You can click here if you really want to check some of them out.
So now that it’s established that Roseanne has been down this road before, it leaves me a little confused to hear Mo’Nique going this hard for her.
While speaking about the situation; Mo’Nique stated her support for Roseanne, even asking presumably black fans to “not throw Roseanne away”:
“We’ve all said and done things baby that we wish we could take back and swallow and say, ‘Oh.’ But when you’re in the public eye, you can’t and it’s out there. But to put the title of ‘racist’ on her…
“My sister made a mistake and she said something I know she wishes she could take back. But what I would ask is we don’t throw her away.”
I just wonder, had it been Mo’Nique that Roseanne was trying to compare to an APE, how similar her plea to us over the alleged racism would’ve sounded to her request that we boycott Netflix?
