Ever since the NBA season ended, there’s been plenty of speculation about where Kawhi Leonard will be traded to as his relationship with the Spurs has gone completely downhill. His hometown Lakers have been his preferred destination along with the Clippers.
Now in an unexpected turn of events, it seems that the Raptors are in the driver’s seat as the team that’ll acquire Leonard via trade, according to The Washington Post along with Vegas sportsbooks. Toronto believes that with LeBron James out of the East, they could be the favorites to win the conference and give Leonard an easier path to the Finals.
Toronto would have to give up either DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Kowry to get Leonard. Raptors President of Basketball Operations Masai Ujiri said he’d be willing to let one of those two all-stars go.
