Normally, I’d write these comments off because it’s well-known that actor Mark Wahlberg is a minority owner in the UFC; but with this being Conor McGregor’s first 100% REAL fight since returning to the octagon from his little paid sparring practice with Floyd Mayweather in 2017, the anticipation will be sky-high from that angle.
Add to things an outstanding opponent in Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (26-0-0) who has been obviously dominating the division & is favored to beat McGregor, & you really do have potentially one of the biggest & best fights in the history of mixed martial arts…which is excatly what the UFC needs right now after a string of “so-so” fight cards & with blockbuster fighter Jon Jones still out on suspension (who knows what the deal is there).
McGregor holds 4 of the top 5 PPV records in UFC history & we all know why. Half of the people want to watch a technical genius & loudmouthed knockout artist work, the other half want to see him get shut up after talking crap & strutting all over his opponents in pre-fight press conferences.
Either way; everyone is buying.
