How Lil Wayne Was Able To Gain Total Control Over Young Money From Birdman And What That Means For The Carter 5 (Photos)

Lil Wayne and Birdman killed all beef between the two at Lil Weezyana Fest last month after years of going back and forth of having rights to releasing Wayne’s music. Wayne finally won in court this summer, received over $10 million, and is now free to release his Carter V album at any time. That release date is now reportedly set for September 21.

According to Billboard, Wayne also has full ownership of his Young Money label now. His YM label was part of Birdman’s Cash Money label and was a 51-49 joint venture deal which included some issues. The settlement that was reached back in June saw both parties agree to an undisclosed amount of money.

Wayne released the cover art this week for Carter V and that has fans ready for a new project for the first time since 2015. The last one was the Free Weezy Album. The Carter V album has been in the works since 2012 but these legal issues caused numerous delays but now the dust has settled and we will now get the fifth installment of the series.
