During the preseason MetLife Bowl, there were plenty of reasons to watch but everyone was tuned in to check out the Jets’ rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. After an impressive outing, he has many believing. The Jets’ special teams needs work but we’re wondering, how will Sam Darnold do coming Opening night?
Monday Night Football is back in action and the Jets started out on the road as they faced the Lions. Last night was a big night because many were expecting starting quarterback Sam Darnold to be a bust. Even Darnold’s parents were in attendance.

Then came the ridicule for the pick 6 that opened up his NFL career. But if we’ve learned any lessons, it’s if you fall down once, you get up 10 times.

Will Darnold break the mold that has plagued USC quarterbacks? Perhaps he might be the game changer. During last night’s game, he put up some great numbers- 198 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 16 completions. Everything was clicking properly for the Jets. If you’re a Jets fan, it’s okay to cheer this moment.
With the guidance of Josh McCown, Darnold can certainly flourish and we can begin to move forward from the few train wrecks from the past. Darnold could’ve easily been taken out and McCown would’ve taken over but he demonstrated perseverance. Since joining the team, he’s been a hard worker, as everyone in the locker room has boasted about him. To see him in a red shirt this year would be a waste when he has so much talent to offer.
His footwork last night was terrific with a combo of his eyesight. Jets nation, if he stays healthy, you got a gem.
