Kyrie Irving faced a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire playoffs and could have been the missing piece for the Celtics coming one game short of reaching the NBA Finals. 2018-19 could be the last chance for Boston to win with Irving though.
According to A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports Boston, he revealed on Bulls Talk Podcast that Irving is the Knicks’ first, second, third and fourth choice in next summer’s free agency.
“I can tell you right now, the New York Knicks, he is their No. 1 target,” said Blakely. “I’ve spoken with people within that organization. They have made it absolutely crystal clear to me.”
New York had also been rumored to go after Jimmy Butler. Butler is not happy in Minnesota at all so teaming up with Irving in The Big Apple is an ideal situation. Obviously, locking in Irving is what the Knicks will do before anything else though.
