The Cowboys are off to a 2-3 start and many question whether they can make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Head Coach Jason Garrett is always on the hot seat but his relationship with owner Jerry Jones strangely continues to take the heat off of him.
Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan and said Garrett “is absolutely the real deal” and “There’s no fraud in Jason Garrett.” Many would argue otherwise. Garrett has had three 8-8 seasons since his first full season in 2011, finished 4-12 in 2015, only had one promising year in 2016 where they went 13-3 but lost in the divisional round to Green Bay, and only one playoff win overall as head coach.
“Does he have some things he could do better? Of course,” Jones says.
“But, what I think we have here is an asset that will get us to where we want to go, which is a championship.”
The NFC East is not competitive at all this season and still remains wide open. This is all that’s saving Garrett. Should they go on a decent losing streak, Jones might finally reconsider his tight relationship with Garrett.
