John Cena is taking a stand and won’t be appearing at the upcoming WWE event in Saudi Arabia.
Cena’s decision comes on the heels of public and political outrage after the murder of former Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Turkey. According to TMZ, a number of politicians and business owners called for a cancellation of the event but the WWE is continuing with the event, without Cena.
Cena has yet to issue a formal statement on his decision to withdraw from the event while his replacement was announced during Monday’s episode of RAW. In addition to Cena, Sports Illustrated reports that Daniel Bryan is expected to withdraw from the event for the same reasons as Cena.
