Tragic reports have emerged about the circumstances surrounding the grisly murder of Overton Deshan Good, brother of Indianapolis Colts OT Denzelle Good. Overton, just 23 years of age, was killed in a drive-by shooting in his trailer park home on early Tuesday morning in South Carolina.
Overton phoned police at approximately 8.25am to report that two individuals confronted him at the front door of his residence on Pleasant School Road in Gaffney. Overton was able to prevent a robbery, but it appears the suspects returned to his home shortly thereafter and one of them opened fire from their vehicle, killing Overton as he stood in his doorway.
The suspects are reported to have opened fire on a neighbors home, but it is unclear whether there are any other injuries as a result. Overton was able to provide the name of one suspect, Jermaine Jefferies who is aged 20, before he succumbed to his injuries. Jermaine Jefferies was taken into custody and charged with murder shortly thereafter.
The Colts released a statement about the tragedy,
“The Indianapolis Colts family is so saddened to learn of the passing of Overton Good, brother of our very own Denzelle Good, in South Carolina. This tragedy is unimaginable for his loved ones and friends, and our heartfelt prayers go out to Denzelle and his entire family during this trying time.”
Overton and Denzelle both played high school football at Gaffney High School in South Carolina. Denzelle, 27, had been drafted to the Colts back in 2015. Denzelle has been given permission to leave the team, and is allowed to take as much time as possible to grieve. Watch an update on the case below.
