When Ron Rivera spoke with media on Monday, he revealed that the goal was to get newly signed safety Eric Reid on the field as much as possible for Sunday’s match-up against the New York Giants.

On Friday, Rivera confirmed that Reid will be in the starting lineup. The move couldn’t come as a better time with the Panthers facing a run attack that includes standout rookie running back Saquon Barkley.
Reid famously knelt next to Colin Kaepernick to protest racial injustice and spent quite a bit of time on the free agency market despite being a well-qualified and heralded safety. Reid informed media on Monday that he is moving forward in his collusion case against the NFL and that he is considering ways to continue his protest against social injustice. It will be interesting to see what platform Reid chooses when he takes the field on Sunday.
