The Knicks Think Outside The Box & Motivate Their Players By Bringing Former Players (Video)

Sometimes, the past needs to meet the present to make a bigger impact for the future. It’s no mystery that the Knicks are still in rebuild mode. The team has brought in former players to motivate this young team; enter Rasheed Wallace.

It’s time to strategize and make a big impact as the Knicks strategy includes bringing former players in. First it was Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, and Chris Bosh. Now, Rasheed Wallace has joined that gang as he didn’t hold back his tongue and reportedly told rookie Mitchell Robinson, “You suck.”

“He pushed me to talk more on defense. I have a tendency to be a little quiet. And him, he brings it,” said Robinson, who didn’t watch Wallace much live because (want to feel old?), “that was way before my time.”

Mentorship is key in developing young players. Although the Knicks are projected to win 25-27 games, Coach Fizdale is certainly winning in this catergory.

“I just thought (Wallace) would be great to have come visit with our big guys,” Fizdale said. “He’s a technician from an understanding fundamentals standpoint, understanding the big man position. Like I said, I’m connecting with a lot of guys from our past to bring as many influences around these guys as we can. I just think he’s a great voice to have in the gym, a nice change of voice. He’s a guy that could help Mitchell understand how to use his voice. And he’s an ex-Knick.”

This is ultimately what the fans want to see. Despite the losses, it’s a fun team to watch. Do you all think that this is a good way to get to young players and perhaps, teach them something new about themselves?
