The Knicks hosted the Hawks on their Opening Night and the moment that Vince Carter’s name was announced, he got a nice ovation from the crowd. During the post-game, we spoke to Carter about his veteran role in the locker room. It also poised a question- who has the veteran role in the Knicks locker room?
Veteran roles are super important in a locker room. That role wears a very essential hat. When you have Vince Carter fulfilling that role, you already know that you’re in good hands. Carter spoke to the media post-game after the Hawks lost to the Knicks by a wide margin. He’s taken this role quite seriously as watching tape is vital.
After pondering about this, it has me wondering who has the veteran’s role in the Knicks locker room? As you’ll probably glance, the roster is extremely young, which is never a problem. But to answer the question poised in the title, the person that would fit the role would be the new head coach, David Fizdale.
During Opening Night, you might’ve seen Fizdale cheering for his team.

But even during the presser, Fizdale reprimanded himself because he said he shouldn’t have cheered.
Fizdale can then bring it back down to humility.
David Fizdale doesn't want his team to get complacent after Opening Night.
His message? "A happy team is a soft team." #Knicks pic.twitter.com/TE8IGZ6pfY

He means business and the way things are looking, he can very well be the head coach for a long time. Although he never played in the league, his ways are going to have such a great influence.
You can catch the Knicks tomorrow night as they face the Brooklyn Nets.
