Eric Reid being blackballed by the NFL for kneeling to protest racism and police brutality came to an end at the end of September when he was signed as a free agent by the Panthers. Despite finally being able to play the game he loves again, Reid feels that the NFL could still have an issue with him.
Reid told The Charlotte Observor’s Marcel-Louis Jacques that yesterday, he was asked by the NFL to take a random drug test. Shockingly, he said that this is his fifth time being randomly tested since rejoining the NFL.
“This is supposed to be a random system,” said Reid. “It doesn’t feel very random.”
10 players from each NFL team are tested every week as a computer randomly chooses the players. It’s definitely a coincidence that Reid is being selected this many times. It definitely looks like the NFL still has beef with Reid since he continues to stand against racial injustices in America and they are opposed to that. Colin Kaepernick would sadly most likely receive the same unfair treatment if he were to sign with an NFL team again.
