Beyonce and Jay Z continued a long reign of winning Halloween costumes that pay tribute to greats moments in black history. This year, they took it to the track.
Dressed up to attend Diddy’s Boo Ball, Beyonce channeled multi-decorated sprinter from the 1988 Olympics Florence Griffith-Joyner (aka Flo Jo) while Jay-Z turned history back even further by paying tribute to Tommie Smith, the 1968 Olympic Gold medalist that raised his fist, gloved in a black glove, on the winner’s podium. In addition to fab photos, Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles caught some cute video of the family enjoying the festivities.
For younger fans of the duo, this is a real teachable moment in history.
As expected, the social media reactions flew in fast and furious after the famous couple debuted their costumes. For photos of the costumes and reactions, flip the pages.
