Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have had a hell of a start to the 2018-19 season. They stand at 16-8 and second in the East behind the Raptors. Antetokounmpo has also been explosive as he’s been averaging 26.8 points and 13 rebounds, six assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Milwaukee is also led by an excellent coach is newly-hired Mike Budenholzer.
Antetokounmpo has been playing at an MVP level but according to Eric Nehm of The Athletic, he’s been grinding to be great on his own. This past offseason, Antetokounmpo rejected offers to work out with LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. He simply isn’t interested in training with players that he’ll be up against in the next few months.
“I can’t work out with you in the summer and then play you in a few months,” said Antetokounmpo. “It feels weird. It doesn’t feel right with me. Like other players, it’s cool for other players, but I don’t. I don’t want to. Other guys do it.”
You gotta love the competitive nature from Antetokounmpo here. It will definitely go a long way this season as the Bucks have a legit chance to make it to the NBA Finals in a wide open Eastern Conference.
