Alabama starting QB Tua Tagovailoa has made a name for himself since he took the place of Jalen Hurts in the national championship game against Georgia this past January. His phenomenal second half performance got Alabama another national championship and could possibly win another won next month.
Alabama plays Georgia in the SEC Championship Game today and College GameDay ran a feature story video with Tom Rinaldi interviewing Tagovailoa. He revealed that growing up, his dad was very strict about him performing well. If he didn’t play well in games or threw picks, he would get hit with a belt.
“Well, just know the belt was involved, and other things were involved as well. It’s almost the same with school. If I don’t get this grade, I’m going to have to suffer the consequences.”
It seems that that discipline has gotten Tagovailoa to be the great QB he is today. We’ll see if that’s enough for Alabama to prevent Georgia from winning a second straight SEC Championship Game today. Flip the page to watch Tua Tagovailoa discuss him getting disciplined early in his football career, Desmond Howard picking Bama to win today because of that and calling his pops the Hawaiian Joe Jackson, and Twitter reactions.
