Las Vegas authorities are looking to obtain soccer megastar Cristiano Ronaldo’s DNA in connection with a woman that is suing him for rape that allegedly occurred in 2009.
As per CBS Sports, there is a warrant for his arrest, as Kathryn Mayorga alleges that Ronaldo assaulted her in a penthouse suite. She claims she took $375,000 payout in exchange for a nondisclosure agreement. Currently Ronaldo plays for the Juventus who bought him out of his Real Madrid contract for $92 million. Authorities will send the warrant for his DNA and Italian officials will obtain the DNA and securely send back to Las Vegas.
Ronaldo and his representatives deny the allegations and have mentioned they will cooperate with the Las Vegas police investigation.
“I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.
“My clear conscious will thereby allow me to await with tranquility the results of any and all investigations.”
We’ll see if these allegation affect Ronaldo season as he currently has 14 goals over the course of 19 games. Police apparently found DNA on the dress that Mayorga wore the night in question which did not match hers and they want to cross reference with Ronaldo’s DNA.
