Miami PD is under scrutiny after a video showing an officer possibly kicking a suspect, while the other attempted to cover his body cam surfaced.
CBS 4 Miami reports that Ravon Boyd was being apprehended by officers who thought he robbed a man at a nearby gas station. During his arrest, one cop roughed him up while the other placed his hand on the lens.
The video shows Ravon Boyd being apprehended and cuffed after he was accused of robbing a man at a Miami gas station.
Ravon Boyd’s mother watched the video for the first time at her son’s attorney’s office Tuesday and was moved to tears.
“It hurts me,” Carla Boyd said. “Justice has to be served. Everyday our kids leave and we don’t know if they will return.”
Boyd says when she saw her son after the arrest his face was swollen and he had a gash in the back of his head.
“He surrendered and was in the fetal position and they beat him mercilessly,” said Boyd’s attorney Andrew Rier.
During questioning, the officers said they feared Boyd had a weapon.
Sgt. Claude Adam, who is accused of kicking Boyd has been cleared of any wrongdoing while Det. Brian Castro quit before he could be fired according to reports.
