With the emergence of Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic, their 2017 first round pick Dennis Smith Jr. appears to be available via trade. Smith is currently averaging 12.6 points and 3.9 assists and has become expendable with the production Doncic has provided. Doncic is averaging 20 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5 assists a night as a rookie and can shoulder a lot of the backcourt duties.
ESPN first reported on the trade yesterday as the Mavs are also looking to package Smith with Wesley Matthews expiring contract.
The report mentions the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic interested in acquiring Smith but flip the page for more teams that could use services.
