The Rams and Patriots face off in Super Bowl 53 on February 3 and both teams kicked off the week with opening media day in Atlanta yesterday. WR Robert Woods detailed how fellow receiver Brandin Cooks flew out the team’s custodian Alfonso Garcia and his son to Atlanta for the SB. This was after being asked what Cooks has meant to the team.
“I walked by and just happened to see that encounter,” said Woods. “That’s the type of teammate he is, and a leader. (Via USA Today)
Cooks kept this move under the radar and has been very humble about this heart-warming move. Cooks vouched for Garcia as a very special person and approved of his contributions to the organization.
“Oh, man, Alfonso – the guy is special, man,” said Cooks. “He keeps our locker room in tip-top shape. He has such a special soul. Someone that I found myself drawn to once I got there and I see him around the facility all the time. I just felt like it would be special for him to see that he is a part of this success as well, and I wanted him to be able to be at the Super Bowl with his son to enjoy that.”
Cooks made sure that Garcia and his son’s flights and hotel accommodations were taken care of. The Rams’ travel coordinators assisted with that. Garcia and his son will be making amazing memories on Sunday as they hope their Rams win their first Super Bowl since 2000.
