Why Giants Are Planning to Pass Over Kyler Murray in NFL Draft; What Other Teams Are Looking At Him

Kyler Murray announced earlier today that he’s focusing all his time on football, effectively pushing away any baseball career for the near future. With the draft coming up in 2 months, this decision has to be made in order for Murray to have any type of conversation to be a first round pick. Teams that desperately need a QB are also happy to hear this news, as Murray is one of the more interesting story lines for the upcoming draft. One team that could ask for his services? The New York Giants. They are in need of a successor to Eli Manning as his play has dipped so far past league average, that Giants fans reach a defibrillator every time an Eli pass is thrown.

One problem with Giants fans’ dreams of seeing Murray in the Big Apple however, the Giants don’t seem to like him all that much.

Ralph Vacchiano of SNY reports, via a team source, that Murray is “probably a little too small” to interest the team and references a quote from Giants head coach Pat Shurmur from last April. via PFT

That said quote from Pat Shurmur was this.

“I fancy guys that are tall. … You’re trying to find sightlines,” Shurmur said. “It’s no different for a quarterback when he is behind a very tall offensive line. All else being equal, as long as all the skill sets are equal or maybe even a little better than equal, guys that can see have a chance to be very good.”

Too bad Giants fans.

But there’s always a chance for the Giants to change their minds. However dreams of a Kyler Murray, Saquon Barkley, and Odell Beckham trio seem to be zero.

There’s always other teams that are interested in Murray.
