According to multiple sources, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred has suspended Giants CEO Larry Baer.
Baer will be suspended until July 1, 2019 and his suspension is retroactive to his leave of absence that he took back on March 4th.
Baer was suspended for the March 1st incident involving his wife, where video shows him in a physical altercation knocking her to the ground and attempting to grab her phone while down.
Manfred in a statement today that said in part,
“Based on my review of the results of the investigation, I have concluded that Mr. Baer’s conduct was unacceptable under MLB policies and warrants discipline.”
Further saying,
“During the period of his suspension, Baer shall have no involvement in the operations of the Giants.”
As a part of the suspension Baer must undergo counseling and he will not be paid while on suspension.
Baer issued a statement after the suspension was handed down that said in part,
“I respect and accept the Commissioner’s decision, and I respect and accept the Commissioner’s decision, and appreciate the fair and thorough process undertaken by MLB and the Giants.”
And,
“I made a serious mistake that I sincerely regret and I am truly sorry for my actions. My unacceptable behavior fell well short of what must be demanded of every person, particularly someone in my position and role in the community.”
