There’s been a lot of speculation since the Giants’ season ended in December about what the team would decide on as far as QB Eli Manning’s future with them. A popular scenario for fans is that they draft Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins in April. Manning turned 38 in January and is no where near the winning QB he once was in New York.
According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, people within the Giants organization aren’t done with Manning any time soon. They’re open to the idea of extending his contract into 2020. There is also a reported sense of faith in GM Dave Gettleman. Many weren’t a fan of him trading away WR Odell Beckham Jr even after saying in January that they had no plans of doing that.
Not drafting a QB with the sixth overall pick could have Giants fans not so happy as well. A rebuild looks inevitable but not having the QB of the future at the start of 2019 could hold New York back in the next five years. There could be a situation though where the Giants do take a QB and they learn under Manning for a year.
