In February, Justine Skye came out on Twitter about physical abuse that she suffered at the hands of then-boyfriend Sheck Wes last summer at the Montrose Hotel in West Hollywood. Wes tried to maintain his innocence and claimed that Skye wasn’t telling the truth about the situation. Skye had tried to get her personal belongings from his room and she said she was attacked then. Skye added that Wes threw her phone ans slapped her with a stack of money too.
According to TMZ now, the L.A. County D.A.’s office won’t charge Wes due to a lack of evidence. A rep for Skye also told TMZ that a restraining order against Wes is still effect though. They are disappointed that no action was pursued as decisions like this are the reason why many domestic violence incidents go unreported. It’ll be interesting to see if other women will come out against Wes.
This decision by the L.A. County D.A.’s office is definitely disappointing. This is a huge reason for sure of why domestic violence victims are afraid to report their abusers. Meanwhile, Wes’ hit single ‘Mo Bamba‘ is still being played at every event in the country. This result being sad is an understatement.
