This feeling isn’t a feeling that’s comfortable.
Cardi B expressed frustration on her Twitter account, explaining that the whole role model presentation of herself to the media and the rest of the world just isn’t her.
For these past two years I been watching what I say and I haven’t been myself.I been feeling trap and sad cause it’s not ME but everybody tell me to be it for me to be this “rolemodel”and guess what ? People still spit my past right in my face so for now imma be my old self again https://t.co/yyznDymIYp

Her past is widely known, but the past that was just exposed recently is alarming. She admitted to drugging and robbing men during her days as an adult performer just to make ends meet. This prompted many people to question why she wasn’t in some sort of legal trouble and some jumping to the conclusion that she isn’t in any because she’s a woman.
That second part of the whole reaction is just plain wrong. Plenty men and women have done this in many places around the world, so that can be chopped out. Secondly, trying to make ends meet with something like that is just plain wrong no matter how you slice it. I’ve been in some of those situations myself, where money is sometimes hard to come by but you need it fast. As have many, many others.
Third, the whole role model image isn’t for everyone. As weird as that might sounds, it’s pretty true. Some just want to express who they really are for everyone instead of putting on a show so others can be happy, I get it. This gives us a daily reminder that a lot of your favorite celebrities are just as human as we are. Don’t think they’re just some other species from your average human.
Do that and we’ll all be alright in some form.
