Kyler Murray was an amazing athlete at Oklahoma. He played both baseball and football and many wondered which sport would be the right choice in going pro. He ended up choosing the NFL which left many people asking questions about whether he passed up on baseball money and longevity in a career.
Had he chose baseball, he would’ve reported to the Oakland A’s for spring training. They drafted him last year. Murray’s passion has seemed to obviously sway towards football so he knows what’s best for him. There’s another critic who thinks he should’ve went to the MLB instead and that’s former Super Bowl champion QB Joe Theismann.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Theismann thinks Murray is too small to play in the NFL. He had one of the best offensive lines in college football but doesn’t know if he’ll have that same help in the pros though.
“From my perspective, I think he’s going to be challenged in the NFL,” said Theismann. “I think he should’ve taken baseball. That would have been my suggestion to him.”
Theismann also doesn’t think Murray would be able to play both sports at the same time like Deion Sanders, especially with being a QB. He thinks the offseason is too time consuming for QBs to play both sports. He did wish him all the luck in the world though.
Kyler Murray definitely has the talent to succeed in the NFL though. It’ll be interesting to see if the Arizona Cardinals to end up taking him with the first overall pick. Flip the page to check out Joe Theismann’s full thoughts on Murray.
