As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers and Luke Walton decided to part ways. The more surprising part was that he lasted the entire season.
Just 24 hours later, Walton has now agreed to become the new head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings and Luke Walton have agreed to terms for him to be the next coach, a source tells @TheAthleticNBA. The length of his deal will be in line with that of Kings GM Vlade Divac, running through the 2022-23 season.

Considering how young the Kings roster is top to bottom, this feels like a match made in heaven. The problem in LA was the veterans didn’t fully believe in Luke and it started with LeBron James.
Throughout the season, you’d see clips of James ignoring Walton’s play calls and that’s just a recipe for disaster when your leader isn’t fully bought in.
