The WBO welterweight title matchup with Terence Crawford (34-0) and Amir Khan (33-4) is this Saturday at Madison Square Garden and tickets are moving fast as it’s been reported an expected audience of over 12,000.
The three weight champ Crawford is ranked two in the pound for pound ranking but he’s letting Khan know that he shouldn’t go off that number.
“I feel I’m number one pound for pound, ” said Crawford.
Khan, 32, is a big under dog in this fight and underdogs are favored a lot or people want to see a boxer like Crawford get his first loss. Crawford said he’s ready and is too focused on winning.
“I have speed as well as punching power. I’m good defensively. I’m an intelligent fighter, who adapts to any opponent. I’m the best boxer in the world, hands down,” Crawford said.
This may be a big fight for Crawford but it’s much bigger to Khan who claims it’s more important than his wedding day.
“My wife will kill for me this but I have to say yes. Definitely,” Khan said. “This fight means so much to my legacy.”
Before this 5 million dollar fight was set for Khan, he actually had his eyes set on rival Kell Brook. He took the Crawford fight despite his chances of losing. However, if he wins, it will be a big impact for Khan’s career.
“The Kell Brook fight is always going to be there – he’s not going to go anywhere. That pound-for-pound title might not be there again. The world title might not be there again,” Khan said.
Khan is known to get carried away in fights and get knocked out like the last three fights. Crawford, who has 25 KOs out of his 34 wins, will be looking to end this fight early.
