Could Russell Wilson be a member of the New York Giants?
According to Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu, that’s exactly where he believes the Seattle Seahawks QB wants to play if he wants out of Seattle.
Responding to a report by Pro Football Talk, Mathieu took to Twitter to offer some ‘insider’ information on where Wilson wants to play.
Mathieu saying,
“Russ wants New York. But you ain’t heard that from T…”
Well Mr. Mathieu, we did hear it from you and it has Giants fans going crazy about the possibility of Wilson joining the G-Men.
The timing of Mathieu’s tweet is interesting, given that Wilson has imposed an April 15th deadline for him and the Seahawks to work out a long-term contract.
Wilson has stated that if there is no deal reached by Monday, April 15th, contract negotiations between him and the team will cease until after this upcoming season.
Could the Seahawks really explore the possibility of trading their franchise QB?
There was a rumor that Ciara was pushing for Wilson to be traded to New York and that she was the driving force behind the scenes.
It would be difficult to see Seattle actually trading Wilson and it would be to their advantage to get a deal done now with the star, otherwise it could get very expensive next season if they place the franchise tag on Wilson.
This much is for certain, Wilson will reset the QB market with his new deal whether it be with Seattle or elsewhere.
Throw in the fact that the Giants will need to move on from Eli Manning at some point and have draft capital, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched for the Giants to try and make a move for the SB champion quarterback.
Any deal to move Wilson will be a difficult one, but if Seattle can’t come to terms and believe the price tag would be too steep, even to keep Wilson, then they may have no choice but to move him.
Wilson is entering into the final year of his 4-year $87.6 million contract and is due $17 million this year according to Spotrac.
So time is of the essence for Wilson and Seattle to get something done, if not, Wilson could have his eyes on the Big Apple, if Mathieu is to be believed.
