NFL Network has always been clutch with its league coverage but now, many notable shows will be canceled as a result of budget cuts. According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, $20 million will be part of the cuts surrounding many of their shows.
The shows that will be thrown out are 21 & Prime, Power Rankings, Pick ‘em, Playbook, and Mic’d Up. Good Morning Football has a good chance of heading out the door as well.
The NFL says this is all happening to help focus on its 100th season. They want to focus on content on NFL Network that will celebrate that mark.
“As part of an increased investment in programming and content for 2019, NFL Network will unveil several shows geared towards a celebration of the NFL’s 100th season,” said NFL Network spokesman Alex Riethmiller to Marchand. “These shows will replace a handful of existing shows from our 2018 schedule.”
It’s gonna be interesting to see how many shows are really needed to celebrate the NFL’s 100th season. Hopefully people won’t get too tired of it. Flip the page to check out some of the 21st and Prime show.
