Clint Bowyer summoned the ghost of Deontay Wilder immediately following Saturday night’s All-Star race.
Bowyer and fellow racer Ryan Newman have had a history of contentious run-ins. Newman, who tapped Bowyer’s car causing him to collide into the wall, caught a two-piece immediately following their race for his troubles. Here are more details from Daily Mail.
Bowyer rushed Newman’s car after the cool-down lap, frantically trying to land blows through the window while Newman had his helmet on after the race ended before crew members separated them at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on Saturday.
The two had tangled on the track several times and were both angry and frustrated when NASCAR’s prime-time spectacle, which for more than three decades has showcased the series’ very best, ended.
‘They had a little difference of opinion out there on the race track, and they had a little difference of opinion here in the trailer,’ Scott Miller, NASCAR senior vice president of competition, told media after the race. ‘I think we kinda understand what went on out there. I think they’re in a pretty good place.’ Bowyer ran up to Newman while he was still in his car with his helmet on after the end of NASCAR’s All-Star Race and starting throwing blows
Bowyer, who drives the number 14 car, was upset that Newman in the number six car, turned him in turn four late in the race.’Where I come from, you get punched in the nose for that, and that’s what he got,’ Bowyer said.
We here at BSO do NOT condone violence, with that said Bowyer’s position is very understandable especially given the crash came towards the end of All-Star competition.
