The New Orleans Pelicans won the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night.
The Pelicans only had a 6% chance of winning the Zion Williamson Sweepstakes, but were able to outlast the Knicks, Lakers, and Grizzlies to earn the top spot.
Naturally Pelicans fans are excited about the possibility of Williamson joining their franchise, and now that they have the number one pick, the attention turns to Anthony Davis.
Anthony Davis has been on record saying that he wants to be traded from the Pelicans, and nothing that happened on Tuesday has changed his mind about leaving.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Davis has told folks close to him that he still wants to leave New Orleans via trade.
With the Knicks and Lakers holding the 3rd and 4th picks in the NBA Draft, trade options are pretty wide open for the Pelicans, especially with them now holding the number one pick.
So all those folks in NOLA who were hoping for a Zion/AD combination will now have to ponder a future that only includes Zion Williamson.
Pelicans executive David Griffin and head coach Alvin Gentry have their work cut out for them to try and turn the Pelicans around even with the Duke superstar presumably on his way to town.
