ESPN analyst and a television analyst for the Washington Wizards Kara Lawson is being hired as Assistant Coach for the Boston Celtics according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Lawson is now the fourth women to be hired in NBA as an assistant coach. Becky Hammon was the first one in NBA history when the Spurs hired her as an assistant coach. The other two women are Jenny Boucek (Dallas Mavericks) and, Lindsay Gottlieb.
The Celts are also making team history by making her the first female to be hired as an assistant coach.
Kara Lawson played 12 seasons in the WNBA. She was the first pick in the WNBA draft and won the WNBA champion in 2005 with the Sacramento Monarchs. She also won a gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
