Rick James will forever be one of the best singers of all-time and now, he’s finally getting a movie about his life. According to The Jasmine Brand, sources say that the film is in the works now. It’s currently in the pre-production stage.
Over the course of James’ music career, he released 13 studio albums from 1978-2007. Come Get It, Throwin’ Down, and Cold Blooded all went gold while Street Songs went platinum. He was also known for hit singles such as “Super Freak” and “Give It To Me Baby.” He passed away at the age of 56 in August of 2004 after it was revealed that he died from pulmonary failure and cardiac failure.
It’ll be interesting to see who will play the role of James and if the fans approve. Dave Chappelle had a legendary skit on his show playing as James so that could possibly be a good fit for this film as well.
