What we know as of Sunday evening is Kevin Durant will be playing in Brooklyn with Kyrie Irving for the Nets.
What we don’t know is how close a tandem of KD and Kawhi Leonard came to fruition with either the Clippers or the Knicks. The recent talk that gained steam over the last few days was the possibility of KD and Kawhi on the same team.
According to RealGM.com, it looks like something happened between the two that prevented the team up.
Brian Windhorst reports on ESPN that there was “an unsettling” over the past few days after Kawhi Leonard reached out to Durant.
I’m curious what the unsettling was about, and if it was basketball related or off the court stuff. It’s interesting that Kawhi was the one to reach out to Durant and not the other way around.
Although it would’ve been great to see those two guys pair up on some Shaq and Kobe-type level, KD made up his mind and will play with Kyrie once he’s fully recovered from his Achilles injury.
Kawhi now becomes the top target in free agency with KD’s signing.
