How the Knicks Believe They Have a Legitimate Shot at Kawhi Leonard in Free Agency (Video)

The Raptors are up 3-2 in the NBA Finals and have a chance to bring the franchise’s first championship to Toronto in Game 6 tomorrow night in Oakland. While Kevin Durant is out again with an Achilles injury, this Warriors team is still fighting hard and could have a good shot at coming back from a 3-1 deficit.

Kawhi Leonard’s season in Toronto has been amazing. He’s dominated the playoffs and leads almost every statistical category over these past two months. He has his own free agency coming up and despite possibly winning a ring with the Raptors, he could still leave. The Clippers have been a rumored team as he could play in his hometown of Los Angeles. The Knicks now “plan to aggressively pursue” Leonard in free agency as well, according to SNY.tv’s Ian Bagley.

The Knicks seem like they’re swinging for the fences here. They struck out on trying to draft Zion Williamson with the first pick in the upcoming draft, they most likely won’t get Kyrie Irving without another all-star coming with him as he’s been eyeing Brooklyn, and Kemba Walker has made it known that he’d like to stay in Charlotte. They could still go after Durant despite the brutal Achilles injury. Leonard probably won’t consider the Knicks at all. If he does come to NY alone, he’ll just be on a team that will still be near the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
