More and more information tied to Lamar Odom has continued to come out the last few weeks.
This time? It involves Jay-Z.
Yes Jay-Z, the prominent Brooklyn rapper gave Lamar Odom some advice that Lamar now realizes, he should’ve taken seriously.
It all started with Odom wanting to get into the music industry, creating a label and wanting to make an artist he knew a star.
Odom recalled an event where he met with Jay-Z shortly after he started his label, Rich Soil Entertainment. Though he wasn’t exactly familiar with Jay-Z at the time, the rapper tried to discourage him from getting into the music industry.
Odom explained that he had a rapper he “believed in” and wanted to make a star.
That’s when JayZ approached Odom, saying he shouldn’t be involved in the music business. But instead, get involved with something Magic Johnson has done to increase his own wealth.
“He was like ‘Nah homie, you should be doing what Magic is doing. Doing real estate or something,’” Odom recalled. Johnson has made a number of investments in real estate and other endeavors, which has helped keep him busy and also make a lot of money.”
Odom didn’t like what Jay-Z was telling him, so he didn’t really take what Jay-Z was telling him very seriously.
“And so I think I took it the wrong way,” Odom said with a laugh. “Like, these motherf*ers must be scared of me.”
Odom didn’t take the advice, but he still has his label, with no real stars on it.
Leaving it pretty useless for the time being.
Odom did say this though on if he wishes he would’ve taken Jay-Z’s advice.
“I didn’t listen to big homie, but I wish I would,” Odom said. “Sometimes I think, what if I’d have listened to HOV’s advice.”
Odom has a new book out called Darkness to Light. So maybe while continuing to promote that, who knows, maybe he might want to get back in the music business.
Or even still take the advice that Jay-Z gave him years ago.
