The Lakers got the superstar they finally wanted to pair up with LeBron James after landing Anthony Davis in a blockbuster trade with the Pelicans last week. Former Laker great and President of Basketball Operations Magic Johnson had high praise for Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka for getting the deal done, despite his fallout with the team at the end of this season.
TMZ Sports caught up with Magic and said he’s very happy about the trade but the roster still needs to be filled up. He added that people need to give Buss and Pelinka credit. When asked if Los Angeles gave up to much, Magic replied by saying it always takes a lot to get a superstar and that he’s happy that Davis is here.
Magic said that LA put themselves in line to win another title and that Staples Center will be jumping this year. It seems like he’s still close with the team despite saying he was being back-stabbed. Having AD and LeBron is a good start but in order to really be in NBA Finals talks, they need one more all-star for sure. Flip the page to check out Magic’s thoughts on AD coming to LA.
