Buying back the block, something that has been praised and talked about in rap and hip hop recently. With rappers like Slim Thug taking to Instagram to show his construction company building affordable homes in the neighborhoods of Houston, to Killer Mike flipping homes and housing units in the Atlanta area.
More recently two people have taken those efforts to new heights, literally building massive affordable housing units in New Jersey and Colorado. Queen Latifah has chosen Newark as the location for the new homes, she’s invested in the construction of a 16 unit building, worth $14 million. Shaq has invested in a project fit to house thousands of lower-income New Jersey residents, to add to his portfolio of housing he had built in Denver.
Back in 2002, Shaq inked a deal worth nearly $100 Million in affordable housing. They’re making major moves and motivating the youth with this one, living in a building provided by Shaq or Queen Latifah will undoubtedly inspire and motivate the youth living in and around these buildings for generations to come.
