Stephen Curry On How He and Warriors Are Handling NBA Finals Loss and Possibility of Losing Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson (Video)

It has been a long road for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors over their five-year dynastic run.

Three titles and five straight NBA Finals appearances have taken their toll on the NBA’s premier franchise.

The Warriors were looking to three-peat as champions this season, but fell short to the Toronto Raptors in a valiant six game effort.

The two-time defending champions dealt with injuries throughout the playoffs, most notably to two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant, who suffered a torn Achilles.

Klay Thompson also was lost during the NBA Finals to a torn ACL.

For Stephen Curry this season was unique in that not only the Warriors lost in the Finals, but the season was one of dramatic twists and turns.

Curry spoke about the Warriors roller-coaster season with Complex Sports and in it he details how the Warriors handled the difficult loss to the Raptors.

The two-time league MVP said,

“…the night after we lost Game 6, we had the entire team at the house and we were drinking some wine and having some fun, talking about the crazy year that we had and it was nothing like somber or down about any of it. It was more like a celebration of just how special this journey has been and knowing that it’s not over yet so I think in turn having people that support you, having your family, and you getting to share them it definitely helps keep things into perspective and not make it more tough to lose than it already is.”

Not only are the Warriors dealing with their loss in the Finals, but both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant are free agents this summer.

Asked if he’ll be watching free agency any closer especially with Durant and Thompson being available, Curry says,

“Not really, I mean, we got two guys that are in the boat, going through it, so they’re closer to their decisions or whatever…I’ll be tuning in.”

For Curry this summer could be very different than ones from seasons past, but he appears to be handling it in stride.
