Being acknowledged as the highest paid running back in the league surely comes with some discussion.
Especially when your contract is mind boggling for a modern NFL running back. AND when you have mysterious knee issues that costed you prime playing time in the playoffs.
Todd Gurley is faced with that problem, but hasn’t had the opportunity to address these knee injuries completely.
He was finally able to address them when he attended minicamp for the Rams.
“I had bigger problems to worry about coming out of college,” he told reporters Tuesday at the start of Rams mandatory minicamp, via NFL.com. “This is small.”
Gurley doesn’t sound too concerned with knee injuries that some linked to arthritis.
Count head coach Sean McVay as believer in Gurley.
“I feel real good,” McVay told reporters. “Talking to Todd, he looks really good, and feels really good. I think the plan that we set out a few months back has been followed exactly the way that we wanted it to get done and now it’s about six more weeks till we really report back to camp.
Gurley was a star in the regular season, rushing for 1,305 yards and a staggering 17 touchdowns. While adding 580 yards receiving and adding another 4 touchdowns on the season.
Gurley’s Rams look to rebound, after coming off an uninspiring Super Bowl loss to the Patriots. In which quarterback Jared Goff had an underwhelming performance, throwing for 229 yards and 1 interception, but not nearly as good as the stats might say.
Gurley on the other hand? Only 10 carries for 35 yards.
